The College of Business and Management has adopted its strategies to define and drive the future direction of the college. Academic excellence and student achievement continue to be its highest priority as well as the core of the university’s mission. Every change and new initiative should ensure that ESU students continue to receive a progressive education and a passion for lifelong learning.

Unless otherwise indicated with a message in green text, all scholarships listed here have been awarded for the 2024/2025 year.  Watch in early March 2025 for announcements and postings of available scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year.

College of Business & Management Minority Annual Scholarship
Established by Dean Sylvester Williams, recipients may be enrolled in any undergraduate major within the ESU College of Business and Management.  Recipients must be minority students, defined as Black/African American, Hispanic, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and Native American who are first year students who are enrolled full-time.  Additionally, recipients must have completed at least 24 credits with a minimum 2.25 GPA after their first year at ESU.  The scholarship is not renewable.  Selected by the Dean of the College of Business and Management, its department chairs and faculty.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Davis and Schaller Business Annual Scholarship
Established by Melissa Davis and Laurie Schaller '10, recipients must be majoring in Economics or Business Management with a concentration in Accounting or a major in Accounting.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 who have completed at least two classes in accounting or economics, depending on their major.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Economic Outlook Summit Annual Entrepreneurship Scholarship
Available in the amount of $1,000

Established through the proceeds and sponsorship revenue generated from the Annual East Stroudsburg University Economic Outlook Summit, this annual scholarship fund will support students who clearly demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit as evidenced by participation in ESU Entrepreneurship Programs and regional Business Plan Competitions and/or are majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship.  Recipients must be full-time students who have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Additionally, recipients must be in good social standing who are highly motivated and innovative entrepreneurs who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit.  Eligible candidate will be required to submit a 600 word essay describing their entrepreneurial talents and aspirations.  Selected by the ESU Economic Outlook Summit Scholarship Committee.  

Rory J. Yanchek '84 Endowed Scholarship
Established by Rory J. Yanchek '84, recipients must be majoring in Business Management.  Recipients must be full-time students who are graduates of a Lackawanna County, Pa. high school who have demonstrated leadership.  Additionally, recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Business Management Scholarship Committee.

HOSPITALITY, RECREATION & TOURISM MANAGEMENT             

Jennifer Barteck '92 Annual Scholarship
Established by Jennifer Barteck '92, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Incoming freshmen are eligible.  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to meet all criteria and funding is available.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Camelback Ski Corp. Endowed Scholarship
Established by the Camelback Ski Corporation, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  May be either full-time or part-time undergraduate students with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Annual Scholarship 
Established by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. Recipients must have completed at least 60 credits and be full time students with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required. Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Christopher Hartman '98 Endowed Scholarship
Established in the name of Christopher Hartman '98, recipients must be majoring in Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management.  Recipients must be male, undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Additionally, recipients must demonstrate a positive attitude, be a team player and participate in campus activities.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required.  Selected by the ESU Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management Department Scholarship Committee.

Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Annual Scholarship
Established through gifts from alumni and businesses, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management Department Scholarship Committee.

Jack Jones Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Dr. John H. "Jack" Jones, a professor in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services Management from 1978 to 1988.  Dr. Jones was instrumental in the establishment and early development of the Bachelor of Science degree program in Recreation at ESU and served as the department’s first chair.  Recipients must be majoring in Recreation Services Management and have completed at least 62 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.75 overall and in the major.  Selected by the ESU Recreation Advisory Council Scholarship Committee.

James T. Kassel, Jr. '86  Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of James T. Kassel, Jr. ’86, recipients must have formally declared their major field of study in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Students must have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and GPA of 3.25 in their major.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Todd and Shari Nelson Family Foundation Endowed Scholarship
Established in the name of the Todd and Shari Nelson Family Foundation, recipients must be majoring in Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Preference will be given to Monroe County, Pennsylvania residents.  Selected by the ESU Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Colin Brett Orodenker Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by Hedy, Jerry and Jamie Orodenker, in memory of Colin Brett Orodenker, recipients must be majors in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Students must have completed a minimum of 30 credits, have a documented learning disability and a minimum overall GPA of 2.0.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee with assistance from the Disability Services Department.

Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau Annual Scholarship for Recreation
Established by the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, recipients must be majoring in Recreation and Leisure Services Management.  Students must be enrolled full-time and have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and in their major.  Must have a minimum of nine credits in their major and demonstrate leadership qualities and involvement in commercial recreation/tourism industry activities.  Selected by the ESU Recreation and Leisure Services Management Scholarship Committee.

Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau Bob Ugucconi Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Bob Ugucconi by the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau and friends of Bob Ugucconi, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who have completed at least 15 credits at ESU with a minimum 2.8 overall GPA and minimum 3.0 GPA in the major.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

Jeffrey M. Robertson '84 and Robin Wolson Robertson '84 HRTM Annual Scholarship
Established by Jeffrey M. Robertson '84 and Robin Wolson Robertson '84, recipients must be majoring in Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management Department Scholarship Committee. 

Sampaio Annual Scholarship
Established by Flavia Sampaio in recognition of the blessings provided to her throughout her career in the hotel industry, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 credits and are in good academic and social standing.  The scholarship is renewable as long as funding is available and the recipient continues to meet all criteria.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Alice Hartinger Shelly '04 Annual Scholarship
Established in the name of Alice Hartinger Shelly '04, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students in good academic and social standing with a documented learning disability.  The scholarship is renewable if available and the recipient continues to meet all criteria.  Selected by the ESU Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism Management Department Scholarship Committee.

Skytop Resort Endowed Scholarship
Established by Skytop Resort, recipients must be majoring in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Students must have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum overall GPA of 2.8 and 3.0 in the major.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Edmund A. Strickland Endowed Book Award
Established by Edmund A. Strickland, recipients must be majors in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.  Students must be full-time undergraduates who have completed a minimum of 60 credits at ESU with at least a GPA of 2.8 overall and in their major.  Selected by the ESU Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship Committee.

SPORT MANAGEMENT

Accelerated Pathways Annual Scholarship
Established by Dean Sylvester Williams, recipients must be completing their senior year and entering the ESU Sport Management 4+1 Accelerated Pathways Program for the following academic year.  The scholarship is not renewable.  Selected by the Dean of the College of Business and Management. 

Mary Sue '60 M'69 and Louis Balducci Endowed Scholarship
Established by Mary Sue '60 M'69 and Louis Balducci, recipients must be enrolled as a graduate student in the Exercise Science or Sports Management program.  Recipients must have a minimum of six credits earned at ESU and two years of work experience in a related field.  Preference will be given to students not in the graduate assistantship program.  Applicants must submit an academic resume of their achievements throughout their college career.  Preference will be given to students whose academic resume is accompanied by a letter of recommendation by an ESU faculty or staff member.  Selected by the Graduate Advisory Council.

Frank Michael Pullo '73 M'76 Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Frank Michael Pullo '73 M'76, recipients must be majoring in Sport Management and enrolled in SMGT 486.  The recipient should be the student with the highest combined GPA (major and overall) who has completed a minimum of 90% of their credits at ESU.  Selected by the ESU Sport Management Department Scholarship Committee. 

Dr. Frank Michael Pullo and Mrs. Nancy Auker Pullo Sport Management Annual Scholarship
Established by Dr. Frank Michael Pullo and Mrs. Nancy Auker Pullo, recipients must be majoring in Sport Management. Candidates must be enrolled in SMGT 486 Internship for the semester in which the scholarship is awarded. Recipients will be the male and female students with the highest combined GPA (major and overall) who have completed a minimum of 90 percent of their credits at ESU. Selected by the ESU Sport Management Scholarship Committee.

Ryan J. Yanoshak M'05 Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Ryan J. Yanoshak M'05, recipients must be graduate students majoring in Sport Management.  Preference will be given to graduate students interning in the ESU Sports Information Department.  If there is no intern for Sports Information the award will be made to a worthy graduate student majoring in Sport Management who has demonstrated an interest in sports, media or sports management.  The scholarship is renewable as long as funding is available and the recipient continues to meet the criteria.  Selected by the ESU Sport Management Department Scholarship Committee.

Ryan J. Yanoshak M'05 Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Ryan J. Yanoshak M'05, recipients must be graduate students majoring in Sport Management.  Preference will be given to graduate students interning in the ESU Sports Information Department.  If there is no intern for Sports Information the award will be made to a worthy graduate student majoring in Sport Management who has demonstrated an interest in sports, media or sports management.  The scholarship is renewable as long as funding is available and the recipient continues to meet the criteria.  Selected by the ESU Sport Management Department Scholarship Committee.
