The College of Education represents faculty, students, and staff deeply committed to using their expertise to make significant contributions to the world. Each of the programs in the College of Education emphasize a field–based approach, focused on learning theory and the application of those theories through rich experiences in the field. The college also has a wealth of extracurricular activities designed to enhance students’ learning outside the classroom and move them along the path of becoming lifelong learners. Teacher education programs at ESU are experiencing an exciting time of growth and change along with a clear commitment to performance assessment and national accreditation.

Mary A. Henning '45 Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Mary A. Henning '45, recipients must be majoring in Education.  Recipients must be full-time students with the first preference given to incoming freshmen graduated from Stroudsburg High School and second preference given to students from Monroe County, Pa.  The scholarship is renewable as long as funding is available and the recipient is in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Dean of the College of Education in conjunction with the Director of Admissions.

EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

Betty S. Baltz '44 Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Betty S. Baltz '44, recipients must be Elementary Education majors.  Recipients must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and sign a statement agreeing to teach for three years.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Mildred E. Beers ’29 Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of retired elementary school teacher and alumnae Mildred E. Beers ’29, recipients must be majoring in Elementary or Early Childhood Education.  Must be full-time students who have completed at least 60 credits with at least two semesters left at ESU.  Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate a high level of professional promise, a high level of service to the University and a high level of service to the community.  Selected by the ESU Elementary and Early Childhood Education Scholarship Committee.

Robyn Bolcar Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Robyn Bolcar, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood Education.  Must be undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 credits.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Elementary and Early Childhood Education Scholarship Committee.

David '70 and Bonnie '72 Childs Annual Scholarship
Established in the names of David '70 and Bonnie '72 Childs, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education.  Must be undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 credits.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required.  The scholarship is renewable as long as it is available and the recipient continues to meet all criteria. Selected by the ESU Elementary and Early Childhood Education Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1937 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1937, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and demonstrated excellence in academic performance.  Financial need is a consideration.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1938 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1938, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and GPA of 3.0 in their major.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1940 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1940, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have demonstrated academic excellence.   Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1942 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1942, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1945 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1945, recipients must be an undergraduate student preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1947 Endowed Scholarship

Class of 1954 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1954, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Preference will be given to full-time students whose parent or grandparent were a member of the Class of 1954.   Financial need is a consideration but not a requirement.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1955 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1955, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Recipients must be a full-time students, have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1958 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1958, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Must be a full-time student undergraduate student who is a United States citizen, has completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1962 Annual Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1962, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following: Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Secondary or Special Education. Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. The scholarship may not be available to every department every year and is awarded in conjunction with the Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship (to the same student). Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1962, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following: Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Secondary or Special Education. Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0.Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. The scholarship may not be available to every department every year. Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Ramona Domovich '48 Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Ramona Domovich '48, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Stephen '49 and Ramona '48 Domovich Endowed Scholarship
Established by Stephen Domovich '49 in memory of his wife, Ramona Domovich '48, recipients may be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education or Physical Education.  Recipients must be undergraduate students who have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum ESU GPA of 3.0.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

William J. Erm Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of William J. Erm, recipients must be majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education who are preparing for a career as a science teacher at the elementary, middle or high school level.  May be either full-time or part-time students who have completed at least 90 credits with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.  Preference will be given to residents of Monroe County, Pa.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Donald ’56 and Marge ’59 Griffith Endowed Scholarship
Established by Donald ’56 and Marge ’59 Griffith, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education or Physical Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum 2.5 QPA.  Additionally, recipients must be full-time students.  Financial need is a consideration, but not a requirement.  This scholarship is renewable provided the recipient continues to be enrolled full-time and maintains at least a 2.5 GPA.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Evelyn Boquist Kemp and Esther Boquist Strauch Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Evelyn Boquist Kemp and Esther Boquist Strauch, recipients must be majors in Elementary or Early Childhood Education.  Students may be enrolled full-time or part-time and have completed at least 62 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.75.  Recipients may be undergraduate or graduate students. Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Elementary and Early Childhood Education Scholarship Committee.

Lauren Lindblad ’12 Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Lauren Lindblad ’12 whose dream was to touch young lives as a second grade teacher, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required. Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Department Scholarship Committee.

Robert Paxson Mekeel ’32 and Rosemary Mekeel Schwartz ’62 Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by ESU professor emeritus Rose Mekeel in memory of her husband, Robert Paxson Mekeel ’32, and her daughter, Rosemary Mekeel Schwartz ’62, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education.  Students must have completed at least 64 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who are enrolled full-time.  Additionally, recipients must a single parent with whom one or more minor children reside.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Kathy Moses '80 M'96 Elementary Education Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Kathy Moses '80 M'96, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education.  Recipients must be nontraditional students (25 years or older) with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Michael ’93 and Marni ’93 Murphy Educational Endowed Scholarship
Established by Michael ’93 and Marni ’93 Murphy, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Students must be freshmen who are enrolled full-time and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 after the first semester of their freshman year.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Sara Moore Rand '61 Endowed Scholarship
Established by Sara Moore Rand '61, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Christine Rohr-Thompson '73 Memorial Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Christine Rohr-Thompson '73, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood Education.  Recipient must be an undergraduate student in good academic and social standing who has completed at least 30 credits but not more than 60 credits.  The scholarship is not renewable.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Peggy Rowland '86 Phi Sigma Sigma-Gamma Omega Annual Scholarship
Established in memory of Peggy Rowland '86, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education.  Recipients must be female, undergraduate students with a preference given to an active member of a Greek Life Organization.  Additionally, recipients must be in good academic and social standing and have completed at least 30 credits with a 2.8 or better GPA.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Department Scholarship Committee.  

Ronald Christian Schwartz ’63 Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by Mrs. Eva C. Schwartz in memory of her son, Ronald Christian Schwartz ’63 who was an ESU faculty member, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Students must be full-time and have completed at least 60 credits at ESU with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Ann T. Scrak Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Anne T. Scrak, professor or Early Childhood and Elementary Education at ESU, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Students must be enrolled full-time and have completed at least 60 credits at ESU with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  In addition, recipients must demonstrate a high level of professional performance and service to the community and university.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Peggy Errico Shields ’55 Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Peggy Errico Shields ’55, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education.  Recipients must be undergraduate students with an overall GPA of at least 3.0.  Recipients may be either full-time or part-time.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Martha M. '65 and Ronald M. Tirpak Endowed Scholarship
Established by Martha M. '65 and Ronald M. Tirpak, recipients must be majoring in Elementary Education.  Recipients must be full-time, undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0.  Additionally, recipients home address of record must be Carbon County, Pa. The student meeting all of these criteria with the highest GPA will be the recipient.  In the event that there is a tie for the highest GPA, financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will be used as the tie breaker.  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to meet all requirements other than the highest GPA.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Jeanne M. Turtzo '38 Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship
Established by Jeanne M. Turtzo '38, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Students must be in good academic and social standing who have completed at least 30 credits.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Kathryn McLaughlin Waltz ’70 and Anna Dougherty McLaughlin ’30 Annual Scholarship
Established in the names of Kathryn McLaughlin Waltz ’70 and Anna Dougherty McLaughlin ’30, recipients must be majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Recipients must be full-time students who have completed at least 60 credits with a minimum 3.0 ESU GPA. Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required. Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

PROFESSIONAL AND SECONDARY EDUCATION

Professor Donald Bortz Excellence in Secondary Education Endowed Scholarship
Established in honor of Professor Donald Bortz, recipients must be majoring in Professional and Secondary Education.  Students must have successfully screened into PSED and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Selected by the ESU Professional and Secondary Education Scholarship Committee.

Jeanne Luckenbill Bowers ’54 Endowed Scholarship for Women in Education
Established in memory of Jeanne Luckenbill Bowers ’54, recipients must be ESU sophomore female students majoring in Education.  Recipients must be full-time students who have completed at least 30 credits at ESU with a minimum GPA of 3.0 with preference given to Berks County, Pa. residents.  This scholarship is renewable provided the recipient is enrolled full-time at ESU and maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1937 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1937, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and demonstrated excellence in academic performance.  Financial need is a consideration.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1938 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1938, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and GPA of 3.0 in their major.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1940 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1940, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have demonstrated academic excellence.   Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1942 Endowed Scholarship

Established by members of the ESU Class of 1945, recipients must be an undergraduate student preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously. 

Class of 1947 Endowed Scholarship

Class of 1954 Endowed Scholarship

Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. The scholarship may not be available to every department every year and is awarded in conjunction with the Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship (to the same student). Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1962, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following: Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Secondary or Special Education. Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0.Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. William J. Erm Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of William J. Erm, recipients must be majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education who are preparing for a career as a science teacher at the elementary, middle or high school level.  May be either full-time or part-time students who have completed at least 90 credits with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.  Preference will be given to residents of Monroe County, Pa.  Selected by the ESU Early Childhood and Elementary Education Scholarship Committee.

Stanley and Lydia Evans Public Servant Annual Scholarship
Established by Pamela M. Evans '78 in loving memory of two of the most giving people who were also public servants, Stanley and Lydia Evans, recipients may be majoring in nursing or secondary education teaching.  Recipients may be undergraduate students who have completed at least 60 credits or graduate students.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required, as well as, financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Recipients graduating in December may receive the entire award in the fall semester.  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to meet all criteria and funding is available.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee. 

J. Franklin Hindson ’99 and Elizabeth Sim Hindson Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established by George A. Hindson in memory of his mother Elizabeth Sim Hindson, and his father J. Franklin Hindson from the class of 1899, recipients must be Secondary Education majors.  Must be juniors or seniors and not already possess a bachelor’s degree in any field.  A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 with a 3.25 GPA in the major is required.  Selected by the ESU Professional and Secondary Education Scholarship Committee.

Murray and Helen Nace Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of Murray L. and Helen Kunkle Nace, recipients must be majoring in Professional and Secondary Education.  Students must have completed at least 45 credits at ESU with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have demonstrated a high level of service to the programs at ESU and a commitment to a teaching career.  Additionally, students must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during the semester(s) of disbursement of the award.  Selected by the ESU Professional and Secondary Education Scholarship Committee.

Ritchey J. Ricci '65 M'72 Biological Science Educator's Endowed Scholarship
Established by Ritchey J. '65 M'72 and Roberta A. '66 Ricci, recipients must be majoring in Professional and Secondary Education pursuing Biological Sciences teaching certification.  Recipients must be in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Professional and Secondary Education Scholarship Committee.

Smeaton-Lane Endowed Scholarship
Established by Patricia and John Smeaton and Gay and Doug Lane, recipients may be enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate major in 7-12 Education in the fields of science or mathematics.  Recipients must be female students with a minimum GPA of 2.8 in good academic and social standing.  Selected by the ESU Professional and Secondary Education Scholarship Committee.
 

Reading Education

Marilyn Barber Hiller ’68 Reading Education Annual Scholarship
Established by Marilyn Barber Hiller ‘68, recipients must be enrolled in the Master’s in Reading Education Program.  Recipients must be graduate students in good academic and social standing with preference given to students with financial need as determined by FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipient continues to meet all criteria and funding is available. Selected by the Reading Department Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1937 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1937, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and demonstrated excellence in academic performance.  Financial need is a consideration.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1938 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1938, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and GPA of 3.0 in their major.  Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.

Class of 1940 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1940, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have demonstrated academic excellence.   Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1942 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1942, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1945 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1945, recipients must be an undergraduate student preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1947 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1947, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1954 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1954, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Students must have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Preference will be given to full-time students whose parent or grandparent were a member of the Class of 1954.   Financial need is a consideration but not a requirement.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1955 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1955, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Recipients must be a full-time students, have completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1958 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1958, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following:  Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Professional and Secondary Education or Special Education.  Must be a full-time student undergraduate student who is a United States citizen, has completed at least 30 credits and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.75 and 3.0 GPA in their major.   Financial need as determined by FAFSA is required.  This scholarship is not available to every department every year.  Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee for each department listed previously.  

Class of 1962 Annual Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1962, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following: Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Secondary or Special Education. Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. The scholarship may not be available to every department every year and is awarded in conjunction with the Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship (to the same student). Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Class of 1962 Endowed Scholarship
Established by members of the ESU Class of 1962, recipients must be preparing for a teaching career and majoring in one of the following: Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Health Education, Physical Education, and Secondary or Special Education. Must be a full-time undergraduate student and have completed at least 30 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.0.Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA. The scholarship may not be available to every department every year. Selected by the ESU Scholarship Committee.

Dr. John Kovalkoski Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Established in memory of John Kovalkoski, a former professor in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation, recipients must be majoring in Special Education and Rehabilitation.  Recipients are chosen for their distinguished academic record and plans to continue working in the field of Special Education.  Selected by the ESU Special Education and Rehabilitation Scholarship Committee.

SOAR (Success; Opportunity + Ambition = Reality) Annual Scholarship
Established by ESU Professor Dr. Heather Garrison, recipients must be parents and undergraduate students pursuing certification in special education with a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall and in Special Education coursework.  First consideration will be given to full-time students who are single parents. Financial need is a consideration, but not a requirement. Selected by the ESU Special Education and Rehabilitation Scholarship Committee.
