PPL Foundation Grant to Benefit Aspiring Educators

The East Stroudsburg University Foundation (ESUF) has received a $5,000 grant from the PPL Foundation to launch the Aspiring Educator Pathway Project (AEPP). AEPP partners with local school districts to review best practices in developing collaborative programs between ESU and local education entities, focusing on educating current students in grades 8-12 about the role of an educator. The program will create in-school clubs to raise awareness of the teaching profession, pair students with mentor teachers for clinical experiences, and offer opportunities for professional development both at schools and on the university campus.

The project will offer dual enrollment courses, introduce students to college experiences on campus, continue mentorship during college field experiences, and provide ongoing support to first-year teachers. Through a collaborative approach, AEPP will provide students the additional support needed to complete their preparation and return to their community schools for employment.

This initiative aligns with the PPL Foundation’s Energizing Education objective by supporting equitable and engaging educational opportunities, ultimately helping to fill the teacher pipeline with passionate, qualified educators.
