ALWAYS BETTER TOGETHER: virtually connects donors to students

There seemed no better message to send our donors and student scholarship recipients in 2021 than to say we really are Always Better Together. The 12th Annual Scholarship Celebration, normally an in-person dinner event, shifted to a virtual production in 2021. Presented by The Haverford Trust Company and PSECU, the virtual experience premiered April 21, 2021, and celebrated the hundreds of scholarship donors in 2020-2021 who provided support to ESU Warriors through the gift of scholarship.

We were thrilled to share the following students, their incredible stories and the impact of your scholarship support:

Natalie Altemose, Class of 2021
Kathy Moses '80 M'96 Elementary Education Endowed
Memorial Scholarship

Juleeanna Held, Class of 2023

Always in our thoughts, The 1893 Society receives special mailing

Members of The 1893 Society received a beautiful card and bookmark in spring 2021 to thank them for their continued support during the year. With COVID-19 preventing a normally held spring event, the ESU Foundation wanted members to know how much they mean to the organization.

The 1893 Society recognizes the thoughtfulness and generosity of alumni and friends who have established an endowment fund at the ESU Foundation and/or named the Foundation as a beneficiary in their estate plans, such as a will, living trust, life insurance policy, retirement account, donor-advised fund or charitable trust.

YOU WIN IN THE LOCKER ROOM First: VIRTUAL CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

Launching a major fundraising campaign in the midst of pandemic lock-down came with its challenges, but the ESU Foundation quickly learned that Warriors rally and unite, particularly when it comes to Warriors Football!

In collaboration with a 17-member fundraising committee and the Department of Athletics, the Foundation kicked off its You WIN in the Locker Room First Campaign on Oct. 8, 2020, during a virtual event. Nearly 100 alumni and friends of the program joined the online festivities to learn more about the $750,000 project that would culminate with a new football locker room in Koehler Fieldhouse.

The virtual kick-off event included video presentations from notable co-chairs Pat Flaherty ’78 and Mike Terwilliger ’78, ESU Warriors Head Football Coach Jimmy Terwilliger ’07, and former head coach Dennis Douds.

Thanks to our loyal and passionate Warriors football donors, the campaign surpassed its goal and the new locker room is near completion.
